Yukon Building & Development owner David Dowling came up with a solution to the problem of loose toilet seats in the form of the Yukon Seat Grip, a stamp-sized rubberized square washer with double-sided adhesives that is positioned on the underside of where the seat is affixed. The device is designed to prevent the threaded metal or nylon threaded bolt from slipping. Dowling has established a supply chain that is completely derived in Michigan. The rubber comes from an Alpena company, while a rubber and plastic die firm in Monroe adds the adhesives and stamps the squares. Retailers that have placed orders for the Yukon Seat Grip include Bed, Bath & Beyond, certain southeastern Michigan Ace, Aco, and True Value hardware stores, and Wal-Mart of Canada.
